CEREC

Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic or CEREC(r) for short is a new state-of-the-art method of reconstructing tooth restorations. CEREC(r) uses computer-assisted design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to offer in office restorations for patients. The procedure for placement of a CEREC restoration is very simple. The first step is to remove all decay and/or any existing restoration from the tooth. Dr. Putney will then shape the tooth in preparation to scan and take a digital picture with the CEREC camera. Once this image is captured, the tooth will appear on a computer screen in 3D. This will allow the doctor to design the restoration right in front of you. Once the design is completed, the CEREC will mill the restoration. This step takes approximately 15 minutes. When the restoration is finished milling, the doctor will place the new restoration. This procedure should take about an hour.
